There are different opinions on the minimum required size of the cage, but in any case, they should not be less than 20x20x26 inches. The ideal cockatiel bird cages are the ones that allow the bird to spread both its wings and fly to other side, without hitting its wings, head or tail anywhere. This practically means that you need to provide them with a cage that is at least one wing larger on both sides. Depending on the size of your cockatiel bird, you can check which the bare minimum is, but keep in mind that you will need to place some toys in the cockatiel cages as well, so act accordingly.

The detail you should pay attention to is the space between the bars; the spacing should not be more than quarter of an inch, because otherwise you might deal with injuries. In any case, you need to place a few branches and perches in the cage, so make sure that the barring space allows you to do so. The perches should be placed at different levels, providing enough space to fly.

Cockatiel cages come with a removable bottom as well; this can prove very practical and helpful to you, since you will need to clean the cage once a day. Easy cleaning is a plus, so opt for cockatiel bird cages that allow you to clean the leftovers fast and conveniently. You should also remember to buy a swing or rope that will allow the bird to hang and swing when it wants.

There are numerous cockatiel cages in the market; both expensive and cheap ones. The ones with food dispensers and removable bases might be a little more expensive, but they are definitely more convenient, so you need to decide what suits your needs and budget the best.
